Sponsorship Letter for Action Research Project

Hello!

During the last year I have been following some of the conversation on MTP Talk about the quality of the "third year" experience. I am particularly interested in ideas you might have about what might more effectively support you in the third year (and in general, post-program), particularly in the context of thesis completion. I remain interested in how we can increase the number of people who complete their degrees within 5 years of their entry date into the program.

To this end, I am sponsoring an action research project to be completed by current first-year CCO students. We are seeking your perspective regarding support, barriers, challenges and opportunities for "third year" students. We want to know how this impacts thesis completion, and ultimately graduation from the program.

This survey is intended to provide me with your input regarding how the CCO faculty in the Winter Program can better support your post-program needs and enhance the graduation rate. Results of this survey will also be considered for potential changes in the CCO Track at LIOS.  The current action research team consists of

  • Ashley Guberman
  • Tim Bergman
  • Rosemary Wickman
  • Susan Farley
  • Nadene Reichert

They are compiling this information, and while your input will be shared with me, your name will not. I appreciate your support of this project, and I value your opinions. This is why I am sponsoring this project, which is also part of the curriculum requirements for the action research team.

Please complete the survey on-line, and be provide as much detail as you feel comfortable giving. Again, I value your feedback as it will help me learn how I/we can be more receptive to your needs in an effort to improve the quality of your "third year" experience and increase graduation rates.

Thank you for your time and support.

Pam Johnson
